We may also be able to introduce you to a mentor or someone who can advise you on
specific steps in your career.
Take a stand
Encouraging others to act more altruistically or to be more effective in their altruism is
often one of the most high impact things we can do. Making public declarations of intent
is an effective way to inspire others to become effective altruists.
Make a commitment
Being an effective altruist is tough, and many factors can make it difficult to continue
with your altruistic aims. Many members find that being part of a community is a major
help in living up to their ideals. Making a public declaration of your intent is also one of
the best ways to motivate yourself to carry through with your goals.
