Jungwon spent years working in financial services before she became interested in the transformative potential — and risks — of AGI. She realised her highest impact path might lie in using AI to enhance human knowledge and decision making, and in 2019, co-founded Ought: a research lab dedicated to scaling up good reasoning. In the same year, she came across the 80,000 Hours website and podcast, which helped her quickly ramp up her understanding of AI safety and existential risk.

Jungwon is now the COO of Elicit, an AI research tool launched by Ought that later spun out as a public benefit corporation. She has helped millions of researchers understand the world and reason more effectively.
