Resources you can engage with before applying to advising
What makes you more likely to be a good fit for our career advising? We're most helpful for people who:
- Take an analytical approach to social impact and career choice.
- Aim to use their career to do the most good, and are serious about promoting long-term welfare.
- Are open to considering the possibility of rapid AI progress and its consequences in the near future.
- Hope to work on one of our pressing problems, especially mitigating risks from AI.
It also helps to think deeply about how you can contribute to solving these problems! To help with that thinking, we strongly recommend engaging with some of the resources below. We find that we're much more likely to accept advising applications from people who explore them, and we're more likely to be able to give them helpful advice.
Below, you'll find a private scratchpad for taking notes on the resources. You can write down what you make of them, and your notes will be saved on your device so you can come back to them later.
